The Apartment: Study Guide for Students

THE EXERCISE: You should first read the situation in the introduction to the activity. The situation asks you to join in a roleplay in which you imagine coming to "my apartment" on your bicycle. After entering my apartment, you will hear my answer "your question".

Depending on the speed of your connection to the Internet, you might have to wait about a minute or so for the movie to finish loading. When it does, listen to my answer and then use your mouse to click and move around the scene -- all the way around, a full three-hundred sixty degrees.

There are 10 hidden messages for you to find in the movie. Only one of them shows that you understood my audio request. How quickly can you find it? And what about the other 9? Can you find them too?

THE TECHNOLOGIES: This activity makes use of Apple's QuickTime Virtual Reality (QTVR) technology to place students in a gamelike, 360° immersive environment which they can explore interactively. It also uses streaming audio in MP3 format.

NOTE: QuickTime 4 is needed to view this material. This is freely available for Windows and Macintosh (and other) computers.
